Mens Skincare Routine!

Hey guys, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my blog! Those of you who stopped by are most likely men who are open minded about being more knowledgeable in taking care of themselves. Whether it be going to the gym or getting your hair cut, skincare is just another thing on the list that men should also do routinely.

I already know what you boys are thinking... "What the hell do you know about mens skincare!?" Well my dear, I've done a lot of research and let me tell you, I've tested out a ton of products! I've tried just about everything in Shoppers Drugmart! Like it or not, I know my skincare routine! Did you know that men's face cleansers and woman's face cleansers are the same face cleansers!?!?! Ahahaha They're just charging you more because it cost more to package the 10 million in navy blue that say MEN, appose to the 300 million in pink! :)

ALL you boys tell me that you only use soap on your face, but that routine can actually create even MORE fine lines and wrinkles. So why do it if its worst for you? If you can follow these 4 easy steps, I am positive that your skin will clear and look much more refreshed. Problematic skin is stemmed from lack of skincare, and an imbalance of hormones, so having a stable skincare routine is a essential.

STEP 1: Cleanse: The first step to getting clearer skin is washing away all the impurities on the surface of the skin. You should cleanse your face at least twice a day, in the morning and before you go to bed. A very good cleanser to use is the Cetaphil Daily Cleanser. This is what a lot of men are using these days because it is very inexpensive, you get a lot of product, and most importantly, it works! If you don't cleanse your face, its basically like you boys not shampooing your hair! If you are into more high end products, the Biotherm brand for mens is also amazing. If you are interested in purchasing a product that simply does the same thing, but at a lesser cost, go to Wal-mart or Shoppers Drugmart and purchase the Ceptaphil Daily Cleanser!!! It's only about $10!!!

STEP 2: Shave: Make sure you are shaving the right way boys! If you have time, shave right after you shower. The hot water opens your pores and helps soften the skin on your face which gives you a closer shave. If you don't have time to shower, always wet your face with warm water first. The key ingredients to getting the perfect shave without getting red bumps or irritation is to find a good blade, a high quality badger brush, and a good shaving cream. A good badger brush starts at around $25 dollars. The reason you want to buy a badger brush is because it absorbs the hot water and cream which gently exfoliates the skin on your face allowing for new skin cells to rise. If you're not interested in spending money on a badger brush, find a good shaving gel.

So how do you find a good shaving gel might you ask? Well, test it out! Spray a bit in the palm of your hands. Now flip your hand over. If that product runs off of your hand, it is not a good product because it is too water based. A second test can help determine if you are using a good shaving gel is by spraying it on tissue paper. Now wrap that tissue paper and feel the texture of the moose. If that moose is not a "foamy" texture, it is no good. If you can feel that it is still thick, even if you have pressed it together, that is a good product!

I can't tell you much about razors, but I've done research and found at DE razors are the way to go. Look it up if you are interested, but apparently it gives you a much closer shave which causes less irritation and redness. Also another good tip is that razors do not dull from shaving the hairs on your face, it is actually caused by the water damaging the razor and causing it to ripple, and rust. Save money by patting them dry after you finished shaving.

STEP 3: Exfoliate: If you just shaved, skip this step and go to step 4. If you did not shave, you should exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. This helps remove dead skin and lift the impurities under your skin. It also allows for new cells to resurface which reduces fine lines and wrinkles. The St. Ives Exfoliating Scrub is a great product to use. It helps control blemishes and really clean the dirt off your skin. You can find this product at Wal-Mart.

Step 4: Moisturize: Always moisturize your face at least once a day. Twice a day will give you better results, especially in the dryer seasons such as fall and winter. I know you boys do not have perfect, amazing, self hydrating skin, so hydrate your face for your ladies!!!! A GREAT moisturizer is the Cetaphil daily moisturizer. This is great because it is inexpensive, and works really well! You can find this product at Wal-Mart, or Shoppers Drugmart. I highly recommend this product! It is probably about $10 for a huge bottle which will last you a very long time.
